Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving your website’s visibility on a search engines (i.e. Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) through organic search. The higher on the page and the more frequently a site appears in a search engines search results, the more visitors the site will receive from the search engines.


The 2 notable forms of marketing are SEO or Pay per Click (PPC) listings. SEO listings are organic (natural) and represent the 10 most relevant web pages as rated by Google for the keyword being searched. The listings are considered organic because no money is paid to the search engines for the placement or frequency of these listings. The placement and frequency is achieved solely through successful SEO.

Then there is PPC. PPC is an internet advertising model used by search engines where advertisers pay the host of the engine for premium ad placement and per click. In these instances, advertisers usually bid on keywords phrases that are relevant to their target market. Searches are conducted and ads are found based on these keywords. In summary, SEO generates high organic listings and PPC produces relevant sponsored ads.

If you take a look at Google and perform a search the PPC and SEO listings will be clearer to you. Google generally places PPC ads on the side on the search or in a shaded color box on the top of the search ahead of the organic listings.
